An interview with the three-man band P.H Fat on Sunday evening was a perfect way to end off a weekend.

The inspiring trio are releasing 5 tracks online today under the album title “You Are Going to Die” for absolutely free!

Being scouted by numerous U.S music labels and from the success of their debut album “Dinosaur Blood”, I could not help but ask why they decided to give away their next album for free?

Their response was that they “don’t bank on CDs”, because they are like business cards; “you can’t sell a business card.” Instead of conventional marketing methods, such as joining a high-tech U.S label, P.H Fat would advertise by walking around asking “how much would you pay for this CD? What’s the value to you?” (And often the answers would be R50 to R150).

So maybe it isn’t all about the money; maybe it’s about “throwing a party you would want to go to.” Besides, who knows? If you “leave the door open for opportunity, people will just keep walking in.”
